English Abstract

North Korea's preparations for a nuclear test are being detected. The reason why North Korea is preparing for additional nuclear tests from the viewpoint of military technology is interpreted as an attempt to miniaturize nuclear warheads. It is believed to be aimed at reducing existing fission bombs, diversifying tactical nuclear weapons, and simultaneously developing nuclear warheads for ICBM MIRVs. In response to North Korea's advancement of its nuclear capabilities, South Korea and the United States should continue to evolve and develop their deterrence strategies. In order to improve the capacity of extended deterrence, multi-layered efforts such as strategic asset development, information sharing, joint planning, crisis consultation, and joint implementation should be made, and the Korean military itself needs to develop its nuclear deterrence capability.
