Many experts agree that current economic dispute between the US and China is just one part of hegemonic competition between the two. Because this competition is not confined to economic interests, even if the two parties reach an agreement in certain sector, it does not mean that overall competition is over. It is true that the US, who initially preferred the top-down approach altered its position to a multi-leveled partial compromise strategy. Nevertheless, shift in method does not necessarily signal a complete end to negotiations. In a similar vain, it seems inappropriate to perceive partial success as a victory achieved by either the US or China.
