Progress toward a Global Country: The Significance and Future Tasks of the Camp David Trilateral Summit

President Yoon of Korea, President Biden of the United States, and Prime Minister Kishida of Japan have gathered again. This time, it was not just gathering in one place, but at Camp David in Maryland, the birthplace of an important historical event in post-war international politics. Camp David was the place where Roosevelt and Churchill met to discuss the end of World War II, where Eisenhower and Khrushchev reached an agreement to avoid military conflict between the U.S. and USSR in the Cold War, and where President Carter and Israeli Prime Minister Begin led peace talks in the Middle East. President Biden's invitation to President Yoon and Prime Minister Kishida shows that expectations for trilateral cooperation are high, and as the joint statement after the talk states, all of the participants perceive the meeting and results as a notable historic event toward current disorder in the international political situation. This paper briefly reviews the achievements, significance, background, and future tasks of the trilateral summit between South Korea, the U.S., and Japan held at Camp David.
