The ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from July 14 to 15 were also important for Korea, China, and Japan diplomacy. Jin Park, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea discussed issues such as Fukushima's discharge of contaminated water and normalization of relations through bilateral talks with Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa and Chinese Communist Party member and Foreign Minister; Wang Yi (reappointed on July 25). Hence, there is a possibility that Wang's proposal will hold a foreign ministerial meeting and start discussions to resume the Korea-China-Japan summit, which has been suspended since December 2019, for the first time in four years. Moreover, at the ARF, foreign ministers from 27 countries in the Indo-Pacific region and regional organization(EU) adopted a concern and statement on July 12 emphasizing peaceful resolution through dialogue toward North Korea's ICBM launch which threatens the peace and stability in the region. ASEAN, a diplomatic venue where the U.S. and China confrontation in July 2023, made its achievements and is moving toward the summit in September.
