Around the globe, natural disaster caused by climate change creates various threats. North Korea, also is not an exception to such disasters. Frequent natural disaster is no exception to North Korea. North Korea has also been aware of the seriousness of climate change and has continued its projects to improve cooperation and disaster management capabilities with the international community. Nevertheless, North Korea's vulnerability to disasters continues. To overcome damages, North Korea is focusing its capabilities on minimizing damage caused by natural disasters. However, North Korea is also expressing the need for international cooperation because it is largely due to the fact that it is difficult to secure technical capabilities and stable financial resources for disaster management. Given that both the international community and North Korea are willing to cooperate, integrated projects that have been suspended due to COVID-19 are expected to resume, and the South Korean government needs to keep an eye on these actions in preparing policies to promote green detente.
