English Abstract
Japan announced the release of radioactive-contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. China, South Korea, and Japan are against the release of contaminated water. An organization of fishermen near Fukushima is particularly against the release of contaminated water due to a lack of detailed information and countermeasures against reputational damages. The South Korean government must approach this issue in terms of global maritime safety—not in terms of Japan-South Korea relations—and respond professionally for scientific, international cooperation, cooperate for IAEA verification and nuclear safety, and provide comprehensive research and investigation of radioactive materials.
