The purpose of this book is to evaluate the implication of US%uB7China's competition for hegemony on the economy and security of Northeast Asia, while also researching the potential  counter measures for South Korea. With the perspective of a competition and cooperation structure between China and the US in mind, this book examines the subsequent effects of the competition on the formation of an economic and security order in Northeast Asia. The research looks into the formation of US%uB7China competition structure in Northeast Asia and the changes in the security network, as a result of China's economic emergence

   It is unclear whether the economically interdependent and competitive structure of the China%uB7US competition for hegemony will result in intense conflict or lead to increasing cooperation. Because of a number of uncertain factors, instead of direct conflict and collision,  an underhanded trial of strength between the two powers has formed. Northeast Asia's transition as a result of the US%uB7China relation has increased the need for countries in the region to seek individual mid to long-term counter measures.

   The contents of this book focuses on the mid to long-term implication of China's emergence and the subsequent US%uB7China competition for hegemony and cooperation. The first part of the book is divided into two parts. The two parts discuss the implication of the US%uB7China trade competition and energy cooperation on Northeast Asia's economic order. The second part of the book looks into the East Asia strategy of both the US and China, along with the counter measures for important players in the region. From the perspective of state actors, the study focuses on the position and strategy of important regional players on East Asia's security strategy. From the perspective of a security architecture in a turbulent period, the author seeks South Korea's counter measures by illuminating the position and strategy of each country in East Asia's strategic structure
