On August 30, 2015, an epoch-making event occurred in the history of Japan. It was the birth of a new administration of the Democratic Party, after the 54-year-long political control of the Liberal Democratic Party. The birth of the progressive administration invited a new breeze of change. Countries that were in conflicting relations with Japan over the history textbook and Yasukuni Shrine controversies raised their hopes and expectations toward the new administration. Japan re-established its relations with neighboring countries, including the U.S., China, Russia, South Korea, and North Korea, and East Asia sought for new strategies in accordance with Japan’s re-establishment of its relations with neighboring countries. However, the administration did not last long.
