The publication process of this book was initiated to accurately identify North Korea's state of affairs at the end of 2011, a period where inter-Korean relations were severely strained and North Korea's provocation was imminent. Finding the solution to the North Korea issue is a priority task, but we focused on analyzing the question of 'what provides the basis for North Korea to refuse both economic assistance by South Korean and the international society's and drives inter-Korean relations toward a tight political situation'. Basically, is North Korea's economic situation endurable for North Korea; are there signs of discontent among North Korean people against the regime; is the standard of North Korea's military strength capable of overpowering South Korea; is North Korea's diplomatic policy established and practiced with relation to the standards of common sense. In other words, this book was published to provide  an analysis into North Korea's politics, economy, social, military fields, which will allow us to accurately identify North Korea's state of affairs and what it needs, in order to establish the future of our North Korea policy. In order to add a sense of realism, this book utilizes the primary testimony of North Korean defectors, who have experienced the North Korean society and attempts to enhance our understanding of North Korea through comparative analysis of their testimony and the knowledge of academic scholars. The true nature of North Korea's threat; North Korea's economic situation; North Korea's social issues; North Korea's diplomatic policy was analyzed by five North Korean defectors and five academic scholars. Our findings suggest that there is no difference in our viewpoint of North Korea. In conclusion, North Korea's ambitions to communize the South has never weakened since the division and there was no differences in our understanding of North Korea's economic situation.
