The Sejong Foundation held the inauguration ceremony of the new chairman Yong-joon Lee on June 1, 2023. 

Yong-joon Lee joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1979, has served as the Director General of the Policy Planning at the Blue House National Security Council, Director General of Planning and Cooperation Bureau of Northeast Asia Era Committee, Secretary for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy, Deputy Director General of North America Division 1 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, served as Deputy Secretary​ for North Korea's Nuclear Weapons Diplomacy Planning Program and Ambassador​ to the United Nations North Korea Nuclear Program, and served as Deputy Minister in Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador for Malaysia and Ambassador for Italy.​
