On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, a student delegation from Parahyangan Catholic University in Indonesia visited the Sejong Institute for a special lecture and discussion on the topic of "The Soft Power of South Korea and the Sejong Institute's Role." The group of thirty-nine undergraduate students led by a lecturer from the Department of International Relations, Parahyangan Catholic University showed great interests in the growing leadership role of South Korea at the global stage in a variety of issue areas, which is boosted by its expanding soft power and cultural influence abroad. The special lecture was held at the Grand Conference Hall of the Sejong Institute, and the student delegation was greeted by Vice President Un-Chul Yang's welcoming remarks. Following a brief presentation about the thirty-year history and various research activities of the Sejong Institute, the students had an opportunity to listen to a special lecture given by our senior fellow, Dr. Kie-Duck Park on the subject of "The Sejong Institute and Korea's Soft Power." During the Q&A session, the students also showed significant interests in the inter-Korean relations and North Korea's nuclear proliferation issue in a broader context of Northeast Asia's peace and security framework.
