2019 ASEAN Young Leaders Program

Dr. The Sejong Institute held the 1st ASEAN Young Leaders Program Entrance Ceremony on August 14, 2019. This program aims to implement one of three principles of Korea’s New Southern Policy “People”; to build systematic and sustainable Korea-friendly networking platform, in particularly between ASEAN economies and Korea’s industry and financial institutions; to support ASEAN countries on developing their economies by providing educational training program.  

Publication | Sejong-RECNA Policy Proposal

On Sejong-RECNA Policy Proposal was published on September 18, 2019. This proposal is written based on the contents discussed during Sejong-RECNA Workshop, which was held from June 1 to 2 of this year at the Sejong Institute. The paper analyzes major goals for the peace and long-term security in Northeast Asia and proposes possible policy options.  

The 6th Thesis Competition on Trilateral Cooperation

The ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sejong Institute invite all students with any nationality who are interested in trilateral cooperation to participate in this competition.

  Academic & Policy Activities

 

The 16th Sejong Colloquium

On On August 27, the Sejong Institute held the sixteenth colloquium of 2019. Dr. Jin Chang Soo, Director of the Center for Japanese Studies, presented his paper on the topic of “Solution to Restructuring of the ROK-Japan Relations.” And Vice President of the Sejong Institute Lee Myon Woo moderated the session.   

2019 NAPC Platform Public-Private Network 2nd Domestic Conference

On On Wednesday of August 28th, 2019, the Sejong Institute held the 2nd Domestic Conference on the topic of “Establishing Northeast Asian Railway Community and Potential Corresponding Cooperation Projects” as part of establishing the public-private network for the 2019 Northeast Asia Peace and Cooperation (NAPC) Platform project.   


The 17th Sejong Colloquium

On July 9, the Sejong Institute held the thirteenth colloquium of 2019. Senior Research Fellow Kim Kisoo made a presentation on the “Strategic Significance of the Breakdown of the U.S.-China Trade Negotiations.” This colloquium was led by Hong Hyun-ik, director of the Department of Diplomatic Strategy Studies.   

The 18th Sejong Colloquium

On July 9, 2019, the Sejong Institute held the meeting on the topic of “Going Beyond the ROK-Philippines Relationship, Developing the ROK-ASEAN Relationship” at the Sejong Institute’s conference room. Professor Victor Andres “Dindo” C. Manhit of the Starbase ADR Institute for Strategic and International Studies gave a presentation...   


The 7th Sejong Policy Forum

On September 17, the Sejong Institute held the Seventh Sejong Policy Forum of 2019 on the topic of “Deterioration of the ROK-Japan Relations and Possible Solutions: Perspectives from Japan, U.S. and South Korea” at the Gwanghwamun Kyobo Tower in Seoul.
