2019 Korean Global Forum for
Peace (KGFP)

The Korea Global Forum for Peace (KGFP), hosted by the Ministry of Unification of the Republic of Korea and the Sejong Institute, was held on June 19, 2019 in the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul. The KGFP has met its 10th anniversary as a 1.5 track international multilateral consultation platform with the participation of former and current senior bureaucrats and experts from each country in order to expand and support international consensus on the Korean government's North Korea and unification policy and peace and prosperity on the Korean peninsula.  


The 10th Sejong Colloquium

On May 21, the Sejong Institute held the tenth colloquium of the year on the topic of the “Assessing 30 years of ROK-ASEAN relations: Implication and Prospect.” Research Fellow Choi Yoonjung presented her thoughts on...  

Sejong-RECNA Workshop

From June 1 to 2, the Sejong Institute held the "Sejong-RECNA Workshop" at the conference room of the Institute. This workshop was held under the theme of "From Peace on the Korean Peninsula to Northeast Asia Nuclear Weapon Free Zone."   


The 11th Sejong Colloquium

On June 4, the Sejong Institute held the eleventh colloquium of the year on the topic of “The Commercial Transition of North Korean Defense Industry and Inter-Korea Cooperation.” Director Yang Un-Chul of the Department of Unification Strategy Studies presented his thoughts on the subject.  

2019 ROK-Mongolia Strategic Dialogue

The Sejong Institute conducted 2019 ROK-Mongolia Strategic Dialogue on June 7, 2019 at the National University of Mongolia. The meeting was held as part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' project to build the Northeast Asia Peace and Cooperation (NAPC) Platform.

On May 21, the Sejong Institute held the tenth colloquium of the year on the topic of the “Assessing 30 years of ROK-ASEAN relations: Implication and Prospect.” Research Fellow Choi Yoonjung presented her thoughts on the subject.  

2019 June Special Colloquium

From June 1 to 2, the Sejong Institute held the "Sejong-RECNA Workshop" at the conference room of the Institute. This workshop was held under the theme of "From Peace on the Korean Peninsula to Northeast Asia Nuclear Weapon Free Zone."   


The 25th Sejong-CICIR Academic Conference

On June 11, 2019, the Sejong Institute held the 25th Sejong-CICIR Academic Conference, an annual conference between the two institutions. The event started with welcoming remarks by President Paik Haksoon of the Sejong Institute and a response from Special Advisor Ji Zhiye of China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR).  

The 5th Sejong Policy Forum

The Sejong Institute held the 2019 5th Sejong Policy Forum at the New International Hotel on June 12 (Wed) on the topic of "Issues and Prospects of Korea-Japan Relations." At the forum, with the Vice President Cheong Seong Chang of the Sejong Institute’s Research Planning Division as a moderator, Professor Nam Ki Jeong, Park Young June, Lee Jung Hwan and Cho Yong Rae presented their cases.   


2019 Hiroshima Conference on the ROK-Japan Relations

2019 Hiroshima Conference on the ROK-Japan Relations, co-hosted by the Sejong Institute and the Korea Foundation (KF) and sponsored by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hiroshima, was held under the theme of “Security and Peace in Northeast Asia and the ROK-Japan Cooperation” on June 13, 2019 at the Hiroshima International Conference Hall.  

Sejong-Nauman Meeting

On June 20, 2019, Sejong Institute held the policy meeting of the Sejong-Nauman Foundation at the Sejong Institute's conference room. Dr. Theo Clement of King's College London visited the institute and gave a presentation on "China-DPRK Economic Relations." Research Fellow Chung Jaeheung of the Sejong Institute discussed on the topic.   


The 12th Sejong Colloquium

On June 25, the Sejong Institute held the twelfth colloquium of the year. Research Fellow Choi Eun-joo made a presentation on the “Inter-Korean Economic Relations and the Reopening of Economic Cooperation.”
