Research Planning Meeting for 2020

From October 24 to 25, 2019, the Sejong Institute held the Research Planning Meeting for the year 2020 at LS Miraewon, in Anseong, Gyeonggi-do. With Vice President Lee Myon Woo presiding over the Meeting, Research Fellows of the Sejong Institute shared the research achievements of 2019, reviewed and confirmed the research subjects for 2020.

Korea Global Forum for Peace (KGFP) 2019 in China

On October 10, “2019 Korea Global Forum for Peace (KGFP)” was held at the Charhar Institute in Beijing, China, under the title of “Denuclearization and Peace on the Korean Peninsula and the ROK-China Cooperation.” The Forum was hosted by the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and jointly organized by the Sejong Institute and the Charhar Institute.   

Sejong-WWC Korea Forum 2019

The 20th Sejong Colloquium

On October 22, 2019, the Sejong Institute held the twentieth colloquium of 2019. Dr. Kang Miong Sei, a Senior Research Fellow of the Sejong Institute, presented his paper on the topic of “China Shock and Crisis of Democracy in Developed Countries.”   


Roundtable of the Department of Security Strategy Studies of 2019

On October 28(Mon.), 2019, Roundtable of the Department of Security Strategy Studies of 2019 was held at the Sejong Institute. Dr. Woo Jung-Yeop, Director of the Center for American Studies, presented his analysis on the topic of “Results of US-DPRK Negotiations in Stockholm and Prospects.”  

Northeast Asia Peace and Cooperation Forum 2019

“The Northeast Asia Peace and Cooperation Forum 2019” (NAPC Forum 2019), co-hosted by the Sejong Institute and Jeju Peace Institute and sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, was held from November 5 to 6, 2019 at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul.   


Roundtable of the Department of Unification Strategy Studies of 2019

On November 12th (Tue), 2019, Roundtable of the Department of Unification Strategy Studies of 2019 was held at the Sejong Institute. Dr. Park Dong Hoon, Visiting Research Fellow, presented on the topic of “Reproduction of Geopolitics: China-DPRK Relations in the Kim Jong-un Era and Response of North Korea – Analysis of News Reports Related to China in Rodong Shinmun from 2009 to 2018.”   

The 21st Sejong Colloquium

On November 12, 2019, the Sejong Institute held the twenty-first colloquium of 2019. Dr. Choi Eun-joo, a Research Fellow of the Sejong Institute, presented her paper on the topic of “Changes in the North Korean Economy Observed at Field Investigation of 2019 to China-North Korea Borders of 2019.”   


The 9th Sejong Policy Forum

On November 13, 2019, the Sejong Institute held its Ninth Sejong Policy Forum of 2019 on the topic of “Evaluation of and Response to the US-DPRK Working-Level Talks in Stockholm” at the CEO SUITE Conference Room in Gwanghwamun Kyobo Tower.   


  Upcoming Events or Activities

The 36th Sejong National Strategy Forum

On December 3rd, 2019, the Sejong Institute and Presidential Commission on Policy Planning of the Republic of Korea is holding the 36th Sejong National Strategy Forum on the topic of “Assessment of Situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula in 2019 and the Strategy of ROK in 2020” at the Sejong Hall of Sejong center for the Performing Arts in Jongno, Seoul. We look forward to meeting those interested in the event.
