Joint Symposium with JoongAng Ilbo

On Thursday, February 22, the Sejong Institute held a symposium jointly with JoongAng Ilbo on the topic of "Korean and Japanese Perspective on the Security of the Korean Peninsula after the PyeongChang Olympics." This symposium assembled President Jin Chang Soo of the Sejong Institute, former Japanese Defense Minister Morimoto Satoshi, and  former Chairman Jeong Seung-jo of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and discussed the pending issues in military and security affairs for South Korea and Japan and bilateral cooperation. The participants expressed concerns on ROK-Japan security cooperation being politicized, having constraints in cooperation, and emphasized the importance of ROK-Japan, ROK-U.S.-Japan military cooperation against North Korean provocations.
