2016 11th Colloquium on “Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Peace Treaty Talks on the Korean Peninsula: History, Issues, Current Status, and Future Direction”

 

The Sejong Institute held its 11th Colloquium this year on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 on the topic of “Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Peace Treaty Talks on the Korean Peninsula: History, Issues, Current Status, and Future Direction.” Senior research fellow Jong-seok Lee presented his research findings which was then followed by a Q&A and discussion session moderated by Dr. Sang Hyun Lee, Vice President of the Research Planning Division. Dr. Lee’s presentation consisted of a) the background of the current debate on non-proliferation and peace treaty talks, b) the history of Korean peace treaty talks, c) China’s recent “dual-track” proposal in relation to the UN North Korea Sanctions Resolution 2270, d) future forecast, response, and exit strategy for South Korea. Chairman Joon-woo Park, President Chang Soo Jin, and other research fellows at the institute participated and contributed their ideas and views during the discussion.
