On Tuesday, November 29, 2016, the Sejong Institute held its 30th Colloquium this year on the subject of "U.S.-Russia Relations in the "New Cold War": Outline, Outlook, and Implications." The Colloquium was moderated by Director Daewoo Lee of the Department of Security Strategy Studies), Senior Research Fellow Eunsook Chung presented on the subject, discussing a new U.S.-Russia Cold War in political, military, and regional conflict perspective, and addressed the factors of cooperation and restraint in U.S.-Russia relations in the future. Dr. Chung viewed that while US-Russia relations is regarded of low importance in East Asia, the changes in U.S.-Russia relations may have a huge impact on South Korea's economy and security in the wider perspective, and implied the necessity of continuous observation and the importance of U.S.-Russia relations.
