On April 25, 2017, the Sejong Institute held the 8th Sejong Colloquium on the subject of “the U.S.-Japan Relations under Trump and Abe: Foreign Policy and Prospects.” Moderated by Director Myon-woo Lee, the colloquium featured a presentation by Dr. Soung-Chul Kim. Dr. Kim assessed the U.S.-Japan Relations under the Trump Administration and examined the foreign policies of the United States and Japan in terms of economy, security and alliance. Dr. Kim also emphasized the importance of building a comprehensive strategic alliance with the U.S. in preparation for strengthening of the U.S.-Japan Alliance and military force, and addressed the need to enhance strategic cooperation with the four major powers, China, Japan, Russia, and the United States, to cope with the current changes in Northeast Asia.
