On January 13, 2024, the 16th Taiwanese Presidential and Vice-Presidential elections were held, and the Lai Ching-Te, Xiao Mei-chin; candidates of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) were elected, and the discourse on the election results and the public sentiment in Taiwan were confirmed.

There were in-depth discussions on the DPP's incumbent, Lai Ching-Te, and the prospects for Taiwan in the future, as it could bring about changes in the U.S.-China strategic relationship and cross-strait relations.

In particular, as the U.S.-China strategic confrontation has intensified in the past few years, and both countries have favored different candidates, there is a view that the Taiwanese presidential election is a proxy war between the U.S. and China, and have identified key policies and implications related to this.
