At the Sejong Institute's 4th Colloquium of February 27, 2024, Yoon Jung Choi, Director of Center of Diplomatic Strategy at the Sejong Institute, presented "A new perspective and direction for the Indo-Pacific".
The discussion was moderated by Jungsup Kim, Vice President of the Sejong Institute.
The Indo-Pacific is a regional concept that Japan, Australia, India, the United States, and others have developed from the 1980s to the 2000s under their own strategic objectives, and as of the end of 2023, about 15 countries and regional organizations have joined the ranks of Indo-Pacific strategic countries with the aim of curbing China's expansion in the region and developing the region.
As many countries have joined the Indo-Pacific Strategy, it has created new spaces and agendas for cooperation, and Korea's Indo-Pacific Strategy, which has the identity of a global pivotal country, should have a practical and concrete framework for cooperation.
