On Tuesday, October 11, 2016, the Sejong Institute held the 26th Colloquium of the year with the “International Cooperation Measures to Respond to North Korea’s Contingency” as the topic. With the moderation by Dr. Daewoo Lee, director of Department of Security Strategy Studies​, Senior Research Fellow Hyun-ik Hong evaluated the justification for international intervention and threatening factors in different types in case of North Korean contingency and addressed South Korea’s direction of response and policy measures. Dr. Hong suggested preparatory measures to promote South Korea’s jurisdiction over North Korean territory to the international community preparing for North Korean contingency and implies the necessity of establishing positive image of South Korea among North Koreans through humanitarian assistance using private channels.
