Subject: Foreign Policy and Official Development Assistance
On June 27, 2011, the Sejong Institute co-hosted the Sejong-KOICA Colloquium at the international conference room of the KOICA training center; the agenda for the first colloquium was “foreign policy and ODA. The First KOICA-Sejong Colloquium was chaired by Dr. Hiwhoa Moon of the Choongmu Forum and started with keynote speeches from Dr. Daesung Song (President of the Sejong Institute) and Dr. Park Dae-won (President of Korea International Cooperation Agency).
The first presentation was given by H.E. Didrik TØnseth, ambassador of Norway, on “Norwegian Development Policy – Challenges Ahead”. Professor Ki jung Kim from Yonsei University followed up with a presentation on “Toward a New Paradigm of Korean Diplomacy: ODA and Public Diplomacy.” Lively discussions were conducted by First Secretary Chul Lee of MOFAT, senior research fellow Myun-woo Lee from the Sejong Institute and participating ambassadors from various countries.
The colloquium is the direct result of the Sejong-KOICA Cooperation Agreement, which was signed on June 27, 2011.
