2016 12th Colloquium on “Xi Jinping Presidency and the Sino-U.S. Relations: Implications for North Korea’s Nuclear Proliferation Issue”

The 12th Colloquium was held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Sejong Institute. Our research fellow Seong-Hyon Lee from Department of Unification Strategy Studies presented on the topic of “Xi Jinping Presidency and the Sino-U.S. Relations: Implications for North Korea’s Nuclear Proliferation Issue.” The presentation consisted of four parts—a) reconsidering the previous discourses on the Sino-U.S. relations, b) analyzing the current arguments on the Sino-U.S. relations, c) the Xi Jinping presidency and China, and d) expectation and ramification for the Korean peninsula. During the presentation, Dr. Lee argued that the level of uncertainty has been on the rise in the Sino-U.S. relations, and that the bilateral relationship should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. President Chang Soo Jin, Vice President Un-Chul Yang and other research fellows at the institute participated in the discussion and exchanged their ideas and expertise.
