On December 23 (Tue) from 10:00 to12:00, the 17th Sejong Defense Forum was held at Sejong Institute under the theme of "OPCON Transition and the Reorganization of the Higher Command Structure: Directions for Redefining the Roles of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combined Forces Command, and the United Nations Command."
At the forum, Hyeong-Pil Ham, Director of the Center for Security and Strategy at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA), and Yong-geun Cho, former North Korea Policy Chief at the Ministry of National Defense made a presentation followed by discussions by Gunjak Kang, former National Security Office Secretary at the Blue House, and Kwangjin Kim, former President of Air University, all under the moderation by Jungsup Kim, Principal Research Fellow at Sejong Institute.
The panelists presented their views on the transfer of wartime operational control and the reorganization of the higher command structure, its assessment and perceptions, followed by a Q&A session. The discussion featured in-depth discussions on the topic by experts from government ministries, media, academia, and other fields.
