On Thursday, December 21, the Sejong Institute, along with the Seongnam Municipal Government, Citizens’ Solidarity for Participation and Self Governance of Seongnam, Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Center for Korean Peninsula Studies at Peking University held ROK-China International Academic Conference on “Peace on the Korean Peninsula and Tasks for ROK-DPRK-China Economic Cooperation." The event began with addresses by Mayor Lee Jae-Myung, Representative Lee Hae-chan of the National Assembly, Director Chung Jung-ok of Citizens’ Solidarity for Participation and Self Governance of Seongnam, President Jin Chang Soo of the Sejong Institute, Director Zhang Yunling of the Regional Security Research Centre of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Professor Wang Yuanzhou of Peking University. The conference was a venue to discuss the three agendas, “recommendations for the development of ROK-China relations.” “the way of peace: ROK-DPRK-China economic cooperation,” and the “tasks of (ROK-DPRK-China-Russia) economic cooperation for peace and prosperity on the Korean peninsula.”
