On Thursday, November 10, 2016, the Sejong Institute held the 11th Sejong Policy Forum of the year on the topic of “Assessment of U.S. Presidential Elections and ROK-U.S. Relations.” In the first session, Junggun Seo (Professor, Kyung Hee University) and Hyun-Wook Kim (Professor, Korea National Diplomatic Academy) presented on “The 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections: Assessment.” In the following session, Kang Choi (Vice President, Asan Institute for Policy Studies) and Heungkyu Kim (Director, Ajou University Chinese Policy Research Institute), gave a presentation on “The New U.S. Administration and ROK-U.S. Relations.”
The presentations were complemented by profound discussions of twelve discussants, including Prof. Jae-cheol Kim at Catholic University of Korea, Prof. Young-ho Kim at Korea National Defense University, Professor Jun-hyeong Kim at Handong Global University, and Vice President for Training and Education Division Haksoon Paik on evaluating the US presidential elections, and its effects on ROK-U.S. relations and pending tasks, and South Korea’s response.
