On Thursday, November 17, the Sejong Institute held a seminar with University of California Los Angeles on the topic of “South Korea-U.S. Relations in the Age of Internet” in Los Angeles. Beginning with the opening remarks from UCLA Korean Studies co-Director Professor Namhee Lee and Sejong Institute Vice President Un-Chul Yang, the seminar initiated with the keynote presentation by UCLA Professor of the Communications Department Tim Groeling on the topic of “The Internet and American Society.” The first session dealt with the public diplomacy in cyberspace aimed at the US public under the topic of “Engaging the American Public in Cyberspace” based on Dr. Intaek Han of Jeju Peace Institute. In the second session on the topic of “The United States in the Global Imagination,” the participants discussed the national brand making and public diplomacy in the American society following the presentation by UCLA Professor Barry Sanders.
