On Monday, June 20, 2016, the Sejong Institute held a joint academic forum with the Hiroshima Peace Institute. A delegation of four professors led by Professor and President Gen Kikkawa visited the Sejong Institute for discussions on a variety of subjects including (a) North Korea's nuclear proliferation crisis, (b) Japan's compliance with UN sanctions on North Korea, (c) the progress of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and regional initiatives in Eurasia, (d) Europe's multilateral forums, and (e) developments in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and Northeast Asia Peace and Cooperation Initiative (NAPCI). The forum was attended by President Chang Soo Jin, Vice President Haksoon Paik of Training and Education Division, Dr. Myon woo Lee, director of Diplomatic Strategy Studies Department, and research fellows Dr. Soung Chul Kim and Dr. Seong-Hyon Lee. The participants had an opportunity to engage in prolific discussions about North Korea's nuclear crisis, multilateral cooperation, and other relevant issues concerning foreign policy and national security of South Korea and Japan.
