On July 15, 2016 (Friday), the Sejong Institute held its 2nd Symposium on ROK-Japan Relations in Sapporo at
Hokkaido University on the topic of “Renewed Korea-Japan Relations and the
Future.” The Symposium aimed to highlight the significance of ROK-Japan
relations, develop a friendly atmosphere in public opinion, effectively
position ourselves in the international community towards a forward-looking ROK-Japan
relations, and increase Japanese cooperation in preparation for the Korean
unification.
The Sejong Institute’s
President Chang Soo Jin and Haksoon Paik, Vice President of the Training and
Education Division, were accompanied by five other Korean participants and ten
Japanese experts at the Symposium to discuss specific implementation plans for
establishing order in East Asia and improving ROK-Japan relations. As an integral
part of public diplomacy in ROK-Japan relations, the Symposium is planned to
take place again in October in Nagoya.
