The Sejong Institute held a joint conference with the Korean Association
for Contemporary Japanese Studies on “East Asian Political Economy and Japan,”
at Jeju Peace Institute on August 24, 2016. The conference was moderated by Soung
Chul Kim, our Senior Research Fellow, and featured presentations by Young Geun
Kim, Professor at Korea University, and Eunmi Choi, Visiting Research Fellow at
Sejong Institute, respectively on “Japan and TPP” and “Northeast Asia Regional
Cooperation and Japan’s Foreign Policy.” The discussants included Woong Hee Kim,
Professor at Inha University, Suhng Bin Lim, Professor at Myongji University, Jaehung
Chung, Research Fellow at Sejong Institute, and Kitae Lee, Research Fellow at
Korea Institute for National Unification. The participants at the conference collaborated
to examine prospects of Japan’s foreign policy and East Asian Political Economy
and to explore strategies for regional cooperation.
