On Friday, November 4, the Sejong Institute held Korea-China Network Establishing Conference in Beijing. With the purpose of establishing a network in China on Northeast Asian Peace and Cooperation Initiative (NAPCI) and evaluating the private network establishment project in 2016, the conference consisted of three sessions.
Beginning with the Sejong institute
President Chang-soo Jin’s opening speech and the keynote speech by Won-hoon Choo,
Deputy Director-General for Policy Planning, ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
the first session was led by the presentation from Dr. Jang Min Choo from the
Korea Environment Institute on “Introduction to the NAPCI Public-Private
Network in the field of Environment and the Current Network Establishment.”
Discussing the “Need for Cooperation and
Measures to Enhance Cooperation in Disaster Management, Nuclear Safety, and Cyberspace,”
the second session was moderated by Dr. Sang Hyun Lee of the Sejong Institute
and Dr. Guo Depeng (Nuclear Safety Center) presented on nuclear safety, Dr.
Yong Keun Jee, SDM Engineering, spoke of disaster management, and Professor
Jongin Lim of the Korea University also gave a presentation.
President Chang-soo Jin of the Sejong Institute moderated the third session, in which the participants discussed the topic of Korea-China cooperation and NAPCI.
