SUBJECT:  2nd Sejong National Strategy Breakfast Forum

NARRATIVE:  The Sejong Institute held its 2nd National Strategy Breakfast Forum in the Lotte Hotel on May 7, 2010, with former Prime Minister Jae-bong Noh as guest speaker on "Modern Korea and National Tasks." Approximately 110 former and current government employees, statesmen and academic notabilities participated in this forum. The gist of speech was as follows:

In the past 60 years, the Republic of Korea adopted democratic and republic political system and achieved revolutionary success in industrialization and democratization. The political and economic revolution was completed in 1987 and Korea is now practically flourishing as an advanced country. But, the national tasks yet to achieve include 1) restructuring of social management system to suit the economic development changing production-oriented industry to service-oriented industry and to develop our own success model; 2) awareness of the importance of national security that we are still at war with North Korea as our main adversary; 3) developing and protecting small and medium enterprises to go in harmony with large enterprises as essential partners; and 4) suppression of mob democracy that destroys parliamentary democratic system. We must understand that mob democracy is a North Korean subversive machination to destabilize South Korea.
