2024 Forum on the US-ROK Nuclear Strategy

Sejong Institute held the “2024 Forum on the US-ROK Nuclear Strategy” on Thursday, September 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 18:00 a.m. at Yeonwoo Hall on the 17th floor of the Yonhap News Agency Building under the theme of “U.S. Presidential Election, Restoration of Russia-north Korea Alliance, and South Korea's Nuclear Strategy.

 

The forum was invited Daryl G. Press and Jennifer Lind of Dartmouth University, Robert Peters and Bruce Klingner of the Heritage Foundation, and Bruce Bennett of the Rand Corporation, leading U.S. experts on North Korea's nuclear and missile issues.

 

South Korea's leading experts on North Korea's nuclear and missile programs, Russia, and North Korea Sanctions, including Professor Min-hyung Kim of Kyung Hee University, Honorary Research Fellow Eun-sook Chung of the Sejong Institute, Professor Ildo Hwang of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy, and Yeuol Soo Kim of the Korea Institute for Military Affair joined the forum.

 

The Discussant included former Swedish Ambassador Jung-kyu Lee, Kyung-young Chung Adjunct professor at Hanyang University, Seong-hoon Cheon, visiting research fellow at the Sejong Institute, Peter Ward, research fellow at the Sejong Institute, Andrei Lankov, professor at Kookmin University, Jang-won Jo, visiting research fellow at the Sejong Institute, Dong-ik Shin, former ambassador of Austria, Robert Kelly, professor at Busan National University, Chang-wee Lee, professor at Seoul National University, and Baek-soon Lee, former ambassador of Australia.

 

The Forum was moderated by Hyun-Wook Kim, President of the Sejong Institute, Jung-hoon Lee, Dean of the Graduate School of International Studies at Yonsei University, and Seong Chang Cheong, Director of the Center for Korean Peninsula Strategy at the Sejong Institute.​
