2017 1st Sejong Policy Forum

On Wednesday, January 25, 2017, the Sejong Institute held its 1st Sejong Policy Forum on the topic of “South Korea’s Measures to Manage Foreign and Security Affairs under the Current Political Circumstances” at Somerset Palace Seoul. Beginning with President Jin Chang Soo’s opening remarks, Seo Junggun (Professor, Kyung Hee University), Chung Jaehung (Research Fellow, the Sejong Institute), Jo Yanghyeon (Professor, Korea National Diplomatic Academy), and Kim Keun-sik (Professor, Kyungnam University) presented on “the President’s Impeachment and the Imminent issues in Foreign and Security Affairs” at the first session. On the second session, Chair Research Fellow Gil Jeong-woo (Chair Research Fellow, Korea Institute for National Unification), Chun Chaesung (Professor, Seoul National University), and Kim Joonhyung (Professor, Handong Global University) presented on “How to Manage the Foreign and National Security Affairs in the Period of Impeachment?”

 

The Forum gathered participants including Kim Young-ho (Director-General. Research Institute for National Security Affairs, Korea National Defense University), Kim Jae Chul (Professor, Catholic University of Korea), Cho Nam Hoon (Senior Research Fellow, Korea Institute for Defense Analyses), and Choi Jong Kun (Professor, Yonsei University) to discuss the South Korea’s stance on foreign policy and security, and the policy focus on foreign affairs and national security under the current political situation and transition period at home and abroad.
