[NAPCI] Korea-Russia NAPCI Public-Private Network Conference

On Monday, November 21, 2016, the Sejong Institute held Korea-Russia NAPCI public-private network conference at the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. The conference, hosted by the Sejong Institute and the International Relations Department of the Far Eastern Federal University and sponsored by the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, comprised of two sessions on “Korea-Russia Cooperation Measures for Multilateral Cooperation in Northeast Asia” and “Measures to Establish Public-Private Network on NAPCI.”

 

The first session on the topic of “Korea-Russia Cooperation Measures for Multilateral Cooperation in Northeast Asia,” Yoonhee Kang (Professor, Kookmin University), Director Andrey Gubin(Director of Research Programs, Russian Institute for Strategic Studies), Jaenam Ko (Professor, Korea National Diplomatic Academy), N. Pereslavtsev Nevelskoy (Professor, Maritime State University), and S. Koreich (Professor, Far Eastern Federal University) presented on the political landscape surrounding Northeast Asia and Korea-Russia relations, Northeast Asian security, NAPCI and Korea-Russia cooperation measures, achievements of NAPCI and its outlook, and NAPCI and Russia’s role respectively. 

 

Moderated by the Sejong Institute’s president Chang Soo Jin, the second session, on the topic of “Measures to Establish Public-Private Network on NAPCI,” also had a list of presenters: Wonhoon Choo (Deputy Director-General for Policy Planning, ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs) on NAPCI public-private network projects; S. Sevastianov (Professor, Far East Federal University) on public-private cooperation in Northeast Asia and Russia’s participation; Moohwan Kim (Professor, Pohang University of Science and Technology) and V. Gorchakov (former speaker of the Primorsky Krai Legislative Assembly) on measures to establish public-private network on nuclear safety; and finally, Hun-yeong Kwon (Professor, Korea University) measures to establish public-private network on cyberspace.
