President Sang Hyun Lee of the Sejong Institute was invited to participate in the 10th Zermatt Roundtable on Northeast Asian Security, in 11th to 13th of March in Montreux, Switzerland. The Zermatt Roundtable is a 1.5-track conference organized by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy(GCSP) under the auspices of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. This year's meeting was attended by more than 45 participants from the United States, China, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Mongolia, the EU, Switzerland, Sweden, and the host organization, the Geneva Centre for Security Policy(GCSP).
Among the participants were Alexander Fazel, State Secretary of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs; Liu Xiaoming, Special Representative of China for Korean Peninsula Affairs; Lee Joon-il, Head of the North Korea Nuclear Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea; Alison Hooker, former US NSC North Korea Specialist; Anton Khlovkov, Director of the Center for Energy and Security Studies; Masahiro Nakata, Japanese Deputy Ambassador to Switzerland; and Peter Samnevi, Special Representative of Sweden for North Korea Policy.
President Sang Hyun Lee signed an MOU on cooperation between the two organizations with Ambassador Thomas Greminger, Director of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. The two organizations agreed to cooperate in academic exchanges, joint research, education, training, and publications.
