The Sejong Institute hosted the 2023 Seoul-Washington Forum with the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in Washington, DC, on Oct. 25. On the Korean side, Sang Hyun Lee, President of the Sejong Institute, Jaechun Kim, Professor at Seogang University, Seong-ho Sheen, Professor at Seoul National University, Kuyoun Chung, Professor at Kangwon University, Youngjun Kim, Professor at National Defense University attended the event. On the U.S. side, CFR senior researchers Scott Snyder and Sheila Smith (CFR), Mathew Goodman (CFR), Komei Isozaki (Hudson Inst.), Ellen Kim (CSIS), Masashi Murano (Hudson Inst.), Andrew Yeo (Brookings), Miyon Oh (SAIS), and Shihoko Goto (Wilson Center) were on the panel.
The theme of the forum was "Beyond the Camp David Summit: The Future of U.S.-South Korea Korea-Japan Security Cooperation," and presentations and discussions were held over three sessions: (1) Korea-U.S.-Japan security cooperation-implementation of camp David spirit," (2) Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, and (3) Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation in economic security and technology.
