Korea - China think tank meeting

From November 1 to 3, the Sejong Institute held a think tank meeting between Korea and China. The Sejong Institute's delegation to visit Beijing included Sang Hyun Lee, President of the Sejong Institute, Myonwoo Lee, Vice President of the Sejong Institute, Dongju Seo, Vice President of Korea Eurasian Policy Institute, Heung-kyu Kim, Professor at Ajou University, Jaehung Chung, Director of Center for Chinese Studies at Sejong Institute, Dongmin Lee, Professor at Dankook University, and Gyubeum Kim, Research Fellow at Sejong Institute.

 

On Nov. 2, a closed-door policy dialogue was held with China's counter partner, the China Foundation for International and Strategic Studies, under the theme of "Intensifying U.S.-China Confrontation and Prospects for Korean Peninsula-Korea-China Relations." On November 1, the delegation also visited the China Institute of International Studies under the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held a meeting with experts. The Institute for International Studies mainly discussed changes in U.S.-China, China-Russia relations, and the possibility of BRICS cooperation.

 

In China Foundation for International and Strategic Studies, Guan Youfei, Vice President of the Foundation, Tang YongSheng, Former Vice President of the National University Academy of National Security, Li Nan, Director of American Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Yang XiYu, Former Director of Asia-Pacific Studies in China Institute of International Studies, Zhang Tuosheng, Director of Academic Committee in Foundation, and Gong Keyu, Director of Asia-Pacific Research Center at Shanghai Institue of International Studies.

 

On the morning of November 3, the delegation visited the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations under the Ministry of State Security and held a closed meeting. The topic discussed recent changes in U.S.-China/Sino-Russo relations and an assessment of the Taiwan Strait crisis. On the same day afternoon, the delegation visited the Academy of Military Science of the People's Liberation Army of China and held a meeting about recent changes in international order and the assessment of the security situation in the region.

 

On November 4, the delegation attended a Korea-China policy conference hosted by Ajou University's U.S.-China Policy Research Institute and Beijing University's Academy of International Relations to discuss "Korea-China cooperation under a new geopolitical background."​
