The Sejong Institute-Korea National Defense University Joint Academic Conference

On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, the Sejong Institute held a joint academic conference with Korea National Defense University on the subject of "Northeast Asia's Security Crisis: Assessment and Solution." 

On the theme of "Northeast Asia's Changing Regional Order and New Security Issues," President Chang Soo Jin moderated the first session in which our Vice President Sang Hyun Lee of the Research Planning Division and research fellow Dr. Jaehung Chung presented on the topics of "Changing Security Situation of Northeast Asia and ROK's Strategy," and "The U.S.-China Relations and ROK's Strategy for Northeast Asia's Security Crisis," respectively. During the second session on the theme of "North Korea's nuclear weapons and missiles threat," our senior fellow Dr. Hyun-ik Hong made a presentation on "ROK's Strategy for North Korea's Nuclear Weapons Crisis in the Aftermath of the 7th Workers' Party Congress," and our senior fellow Dr. Seong-chang Cheong and research fellow Dr. Seong-Hyon Lee participated as panel discussants. The third session discussion was held on the theme of "ROK's National Security Strategy in the Aftermath of DPRK's 7th Workers' Party Congress," and our senior fellow Dr. Daewoo Lee made a presentation on "ROK's Diplomatic Strategy After DPRK's 7th Party Congress." Amid the ongoing security threats and complex regional order in Northeast Asia, the participants engaged in productive discussions and exchanged their views and ideas on a variety of issues.
