On October 19, 2011, the Sejong Institute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT), and Chosun Ilbo co-hosted the ROK·Japan·China trilateral international conference on the topic "Toward a New Era of Peace and Common Prosperity in Northeast Asia". The conference was held to commemorate the launch of the ROK·Japan·China Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat, which was officially launched on September 1, 2011. 

The conference was attended by Former Prime Minister Lee Hong-koo, Chosun Ilbo's President Bang Sang-Hoon, the Sejong Institute's Chairman Gong Ro-Myung, Former Prime Minister of Japan Hatoyama Yukio, Former State Councilor of China Tang Jiaxuan. The conference was conducted in three panels and discussion on the topic of 'Vision of the Regional Cooperation in Northeast Asia', 'Searching for the Possibility of an Economic Community in Northeast Asia', 'Implications of the Launch of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat and its Role in the Future'.
