Jin Ho-young, an advisor to defense reform at the Ministry of National Defense, who was in charge of the first presentation, presented under the theme of "Status and Development Direction of Defense Reform: Focusing on the unit structure." First of all, Jin discussed the necessity of defense reform, and looked at the defense reform of advanced foreign forces such as the United States, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, focusing on the subsidiary structure. Meanwhile, by analyzing and evaluating the defense reform of previous governments, he talked about the future path for defense reform in the Republic of Korea.
Kim Jong-dae, a guest professor at Yonsei Unification Research Institute, presented the second presentation under the theme of Concept and Direction of Defense Reform 3.0. Professor Kim first pointed out that due to the development of technology, the existing defense system and classical military platform on the battlefield are meaningless. And of course, he argued that the promise that technology brings everything should be wary, but that trapped in the rigidity of thinking that does not accept new technologies should lead to greater risks, not obsessing over the number of strategic assets, but a genuine defense reform that changes the concept of power.
After the two presentations, a comprehensive discussion continued. In the comprehensive discussion, military experts from various fields, including the military, the government, and the media, continued to discuss in-depth defense reform.
