2017 2nd Sejong Policy Forum

On Tuesday, February 21, the Sejong Institute held the 2nd Sejong Policy Forum of the year on the topic of "DPRK-U.S. Relations: Possible Scenarios and Prospects". Beginning with President Jin Chang Soo's opening speech, the first session comprised of presentations from Paik Haksoon (Senior Research Fellow, the Sejong Institute), Kim Keun-sik (Professor, Kyungnam University), and Cha Du-Hyeogn (Invited Research Fellow, Korea Institute for National Unification) on the topic of "Trump Administration's North Korea Policy Review Outlook." The second session included presentations from Park Jong-Chul (Senior Research Fellow, Korea Institute for National Unification), Jun Bong-Geun (Professor, Korea National Diplomatic Academy), and Kim Joonhyung (Professor, Handong Global University) on "Trump Administration's DPRK-U.S. Relations and South Korea's Policy Considerations."

 

This Forum also included panelists such as Kim Min-seok (journalist specializing in military and security affairs, Joong-Ang Ilbo), Kim Young-ho (Director-General. Research Institute for National Security Affairs, Korea National Defense University), Kim Jae Chul (Professor, Catholic University of Korea), Shin Beom-chul (Research Fellow, Korea Institute for Defense Analyses), and Cho Yoon-young (Professor, Chung-Ang University) and government officials. The participants had an in-depth discussion of principles of DPRK-U.S. relations and North Korean nuclear policy in era of Trump and measures to coordinate between South Korea and the U.S. related to North Korea policy.  ​
