President Sang Hyun Lee participated in the trilateral Track 2 meeting at the invitation of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy (NCAFP) in New York, USA. The meeting was held over two days with five sessions on domestic politics and diplomacy, security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, prospects for dialogue on the Korean Peninsula, multilateral cooperation institutions and conflict deterrence, and policy recommendations.
Participants included NCAFP President Susan Elliott, China expert Susan Thornton, Columbia University Professor Thomas Christensen, Frank Aum from USIP, 38North's Jenny Town, former U.S. Ambassador to Korea Kathy Stephens, Dr. Ali Wyne from International Crisis Group, and Harvard University Visiting Scholar Sung Hyun Lee, while the Chinese side included Peking University Professor Haotian QI, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Researcher Xiangrong DONG, Professor Xiaoyu PU from the University of Nevada, and Professor Feng ZHANG from Yale Law School.
From South Korea, Dr. Sang Hyun LEE, Professor Ji-hwan Hwang of Seoul National University, Byung Kwang Park, a Research Fellow at the Korea Institute for National Security Strategy, and Boram Kwon, a Research Fellow at the Korea Institute for Defense Analysis. Several officials from the Consulate General in New York also attended the meeting.
