Sejong Institute-Dongseo University Academic Conference

On November 20, the Sejong Institute and the Dongseo University held an academic conference under the title of “Future-oriented ROK-Japan Relations and the Role of Busan.” The conference began with opening remarks by Dr. Chang Soo Jin, President of the Sejong Institute, and Dr. Saeyoung Cho, Director of the Japanese Research Center, Dongseo University, and congratulatory remarks by Mr. Jae-kuk Cheong, President of Dongseo University, and Mr. Joon Woo Park, Chairman of the Sejong Institute. In the first session, Prof. Kiseob Sohn, Professor of the Busan University of Foreign Studies, gave presentation on the ways in which Busan might contribute to improving the ROK-Japan cooperation, and Dr. Myon-woo Lee, senior research fellow, shared his expertise on the ROK-Japan relations from the perspective of Northeast Asian trilateral cooperation. The presentations were followed by discussions participated by Prof. Chang-kun Park from Kookmin University, Prof. Jeong-hwa Shin from Dongseo University, and Dr. Dae-woo Lee, senior research fellow of the Sejong Institute. The second session was held in the form of roundtable discussion in which all participants of the conference, including Dr. Hyun-ik Hong of the Sejong Institute, shared their views on the current status quo in Northeast Asia and the ROK-Japan relations.
