The 19th ROK-Japan Policy Dialogue

On Thursday, March 10, 2016, the Sejong Institute held its 19th ROK-Japan Policy Dialogue in Busan, cosponsored by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries on the theme of “ROK-Japan Relations: Suggestions and Recommendations.” The forum consisted of three successive sessions of presentations and discussions. President Chang Soo Jin moderated the first session of discussion on the topic of “Possible Areas for ROK-Japan Security Cooperation in the Aftermath of North Korea’s Nuclear Test and Missile Launch.” During the second session, Professor Tadashi Kimiya from University of Tokyo moderated the discussion on the topic of “ROK-Japan Relations after the Recent Deal on the Comfort Women Issue.” The third session then followed in a roundtable discussion format on the topic of “ROK-Japan Relations: Suggestions and Recommendations.” President Hyun-seok Yu of the Korea Foundation, President Jekuk Chang of Dongseo University, Sejong Institute’s Vice President of Research Planning Division, Dr. Sang Hyun Lee, Professor Ken Endo from Hokkaido University, and Professor Ryo Asano from Doshisha University also participated as panelists during the forum and exchanged their ideas.
