On the subject of “DPRK’s 7th Workers’ Party Congress: Assessment and Strategy,” the Sejong Institute held this year’s 5th Sejong Policy Forum on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Somerset Palace Seoul. During the first session, Dr. Seong-chang Cheong (Director of the Unification Strategy Studies Department) and Dr. Ki-dong Lee (Institute for National Security Strategy) presented on the assessment of North Korea’s 7th Party Congress. In the second session, Dr. Jong Chul Park (Korea Institute for National Unification) and Dr. Geun Sik Kim (Kyungnam University) presented on the internal situation of North Korea after the 7th Party Congress and South Korea’s strategy.
President Chang Soo Jin, Vice President Un-Chul Yang, Vice President Sang Hyun Lee of the Research Planning Division, and Dr. Jaehung Chung participated from our institute. And experts from other academic and research institutes and government officials including President Hyun-seok Yu of the Korea Foundation, Vice President Kang Choi of the Asan Institute for Policy Studies also participated as panel discussants.
