On Tuesday, August 21, the Sejong Institute, jointly with Jilin University and Peking University, held the 2018 Northeast Asia Forum at Jilin University on the topic of “Changing Political Environment on the Korean Peninsula and Regional Cooperation in Northeast Asia.” The forum was comprised of three sessions, “Advances in North Korea’s Denuclearization and Establishment of Peace Regime on the Korean Peninsula,” “Changing Relations between China and the Korean Peninsula and Outlook” and “New Economic Map on the Korean Peninsula and Regional Economic Cooperation in Northeast Asia. Sejong Institute’s President Paik Haksoon, Dr. Cheong Seong-chang (Vice President for Research Planning, the Sejong Institute), Dr. Yang Un-chul (Director, Center for North Korea Studies at the Sejong Institute), Director Lee Seong-hyon (Department of Unification Strategy Studies, the Sejong Institute), Research Fellow Chung Jaehung), Choi Wankyu (former President, University of North Korean Studies), Choi Jung-il (former ROK ambassador to India and Germany), Director Zhang Huizhi (Jilin University Institute for Korean Peninsular Studies), Director Yu Xiao (Jilin University Institute of Northeast Asia Studies) Cheng Yuzhui (Asia-Pacific Research Institute, Peking University) participated in the forum to have an in-depth discussion on the environment surrounding the Korean Peninsula.
