On October 17, the Sejong Institute delegation visited the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) in Washington D.C. and held a roundtable discussion with the CEIP fellows on “The Future of Inter-Korean Détente, Denuclearization, and the Major Powers” CEIP Vice President Douglas Paal and the Sejong Institute President Paik Haksoon gave the opening remarks for the discussion. Sejong fellows including The Sejong Institute’s Chairman Baek Jong-chun, Director Park Jee-Kwang of the Center for American Studies at the Sejong Institute, Director Lee Seong-hyon of Department of Unification Strategy Studies, and Director Woo Jung-Yeop of Department of Security Strategy Studies discussed the views of Seoul and Washington on the current situation, North Korea’s denuclearization scenario, and future role of Korean and American thinktanks with CEIP fellows including Vice President George Perkovich, Senior Fellows Lee Jung-min, James Schoff, etc.
