This symposium was held in the Yongsan War Museum on April 29, 2010, sponsored by the Chosun-Ilbo Newspaper Company and jointly hosted by four agencies - The Northeast Asia Peace and Security Forum of the National Assembly (represented by Jin-ha Hwang), the Korea Institute for Defense Analysis (represented by Ku-sup Kim), the Sejong Institute (represented by Dae-sung Song), and the Korea Defense Security Forum (represented by Jae-chang Kim and Dong-sung Kim).

This symposium started with opening address by Dr. Dong-sung Kim and keynote speech by former Defense Minister Seong-tae Cho. The 1st Session topic was "the process background and current status of planned South Korean takeover of wartime operational control." The 2nd Session topic was "the impact of South Korean takeover of wartime operational control on the ROK-US alliance in the future." The 3rd Session topic was "the alternatives and countermeasures."
