Co-hosted by the Sejong Institute and the Korea Foundation, sponsored by the Consulate General of Korea in Yokohama, the Yokohama Symposium 2018 was held on the subject of the “New ROK-Japan Relations and Peace in Northeast Asia” in Kanagawa, Japan, on May 25, 2018. The symposium was held to make the officials of the Prefectures of Japan be aware of the significance of ROK-Japan relations, foster a public opinion amicable to Korea, and seek Japan’s cooperation on South Korea’s policy on Northeast Asia and preparations for unification. Experts in the bilateral relations from various fields including the Institute’s President Jin Chang Soo, Myong-ryul Consul-General of Yokohama, Professor Emeritus Keiichi Tsunegawa of the Tokyo University, Prof. Osawa Bungo of Chiba University gathered to discuss the changing landscape around the Korean Peninsula and measures to establish peace in Northeast Asia.
